Summary:
This short course presents a toolkit of resources and best practices, providing information needed to start and run a business. Business skills and relationship building are key to scientists desiring to have a significant role in the market while addressing the complex problems facing our global society. Content includes business structures and taxation, personnel, intellectual property and contracts, communication, business norms and ethics, and international considerations. Case study, allowing attendees to draft a business plan will be provided to illustrate typical decisions that are encountered in day-to-day commercial operations.
